Special Programs

Special programs are designed to provide participants with specialized training in a special area of focus. Courses are offered for credit or not for credit, depending on the topic.

The following Special Programs are offered by Hampton University University College:

Kaplan Testing Preparation Courses

Test preparation courses are offered through in partnership with Kaplan Educational Services at the W.O. Lawton Building. Students who are interested in taking these courses should contact the University College to register.


Virginia Health Department (Special Courses)

In cooperation with the Virginia Beach Health Department, the University College is offering courses in Food Service Manager Certification, Food Service Manager Recertification.


Insurance Agent Training Program

The Insurance Agent Training program consists of three one-credit hour courses for those seeking to pass insurance and securities exams. Courses are available in Life and Health Insurance, Property & Casualty Insurance, and recertification in Insurance Agent Training II.


Prior Learning Portfolio Course

The Prior Learning Portfolio course is one-credit hour for students that are seeking to submit a portfolio for Credit for Life Experience.

The OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Hampton University is a membership-driven organization offering non-credit courses to mature adults aged 50 and older, who want to improve their skills, explore new ideas, and interact with interesting peers in their community.
