Special programs are designed to provide participants with specialized training in a special area of focus. Courses are offered for credit or not for credit, depending on the topic.
The following Special Programs are offered by Hampton University University College:
- Kaplan Testing Preparation Courses
- Virginia Health Department
- Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
Other customized special courses are also offered for Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
Summer Professional Development Institute for Teachers
Hampton University's School of Education and Human Development has teamed up with the National Math + Science Initiative to offer a summer professional development institute for teachers of grades 3-12. The institute will provide Math, Science, English, and elementary teachers the best content-based, pedagogy-driven, teacher-to-teacher training. Training will be held on the College of Virginia Beach campus and in the world-class science laboratories on the main campus.
Test preparation courses are offered through in partnership with Kaplan Educational Services at the W.O. Lawton Building. Students who are interested in taking these courses should contact the University College to register.
The OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Hampton University is a membership-driven organization offering non-credit courses to mature adults aged 50 and older, who want to improve their skills, explore new ideas, and interact with interesting peers in their community.
